How to: Make a simple eyeball bow!

I love this gore trend that is happening in fairy kei! (ily kyary pamyu pamyu) Eyeballs and bows are my favorite combination. But what if you're like me, and you are low on funds? I decided to make this tutorial for people who only want to spend $10 or less on a crafting project. To make the bows you will need:
-1 sheet of felt (any color)
- 1 sheet of foam (Preferably white)
- an exacto knife (Scissors can be used, but they will make messier cuts)
- A "big" circular object and a small circular object
- Pencil
-Markers ( 1 in black, 1 in any color you would like. I used fabric markers, which were much more vibrant!)
- A hot glue gun
All of these can be bought at Michaels or some other craft stores.

Step 1: Take your circular object (I used a plastic cup) and place it on top of the foam. trace it with a pencil.

Step 2: Cut the circle out of the foam either with an exacto knife, or scissors. (I cut mine with scissors, and the outcome is not as smooth and polished as I wanted it to be.)

Step 3: Use the bottom of the cup to make the circle of the Iris. Try to get it as centered as possible!
Step 4: Draw your eye a pupil! It can be any size or shape.

Step 5: Color it in with any color you want. I used pink in the original, but it was too matchy with the bow I put it on.
Step 6: Use the felt to make a stiff bow, and hot glue the eye on it.
Hopefully this will spark your creativity to do more eyeball themed things! Currently, I'm working on a chocomint like star clip, but instead of stars, I'm doing eyeballs and bones. This was all done on an unemployed (except for chores) high school students budget of $8, with some left to spare on some real eyeballs! (Just kidding, they're completely plastic "eyeball racers")
[p.s: I haven't been writing lately because of a computer problem. My hp is no longer with us. :( I'm currently awaiting either a new laptop or an ipad, and hopefully when I get that, I will be writing more! ]

Day 6- 10 things you can't live without in lolita

1. Petticoats. Without the petticoats, I don't think I would be in love with this fashion. The poof is what makes Lolita, in my opinion.

2. The Socks. They're so cute, and they come in handy when you haven't shaved your legs!(As you can see on the secret...)

3. The Wigs. Split wigs are really awesome, but in general, I like that in lolita I can slap on a wig because I just cannot get my hair to look good.

4. Prints. I love prints!

5. Wristcuffs. There is just something about wristcuffs. I think they make really great accessories for any season.

6. Hair accessories. This is why I love ott sweet! The way you can just pack a whole bunch of chocomint puffy stars and Angelic pretty hair bows makes Lolita just a bit more fun!

7. The shoes. I love tea party shoes, and its great that I can wear them with any other cute outfit I have.

8. Cutsews. When you just don't feel like wearing the full on blouse. Without these I would die in the summer.

9. Jumperskirts. They are very flattering on my body shape, and they are really easy to fit into an outfit.

10. Nails! I like decorating nails to go with whatever outfit I'm wearing. <3

Day 5-10 items from your wish list!

Dream sky. This is my favorite new print from AP that I really, really want. The other colors are nice, but I just like how the colors pop off of the black. I also think the blue is positively gorgeous!

Holy cross. When I saw this dress at a convention, I knew I wanted it. It's so beautiful.
Black cat Alice's Mysterious tea party. I love this dress for some reason. I think I saw it in the G&LB, and I just had to have it on this list!
Marchen Ribbon. I like a lot of AP's prints in black, but this has to be my favorite.
Starry Night Theater. When this came out I really wanted it. I'm starting to move away from the black colorway, and on to really wanting the blue. I'm currently thinking about getting the replica, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get it.
Merry sweet castle. I saw this in the English G&LB and I knew I wanted it.
Dreamy dollhouse skirt. No, I still haven't gotten it. ):
Melty Chocolate. The print is pretty, and the name sounds delicious!
Sugary Carnival. I will get the real one someday!

Candy Star Rabbit. The stripes are the best part of this dress. I also like the special version of this jsk!

Happy New year everyone!

Happy 2011!
Can you believe that this blog was started around this time? I had zero readers and zero views last year at this time (or I just didn't know how to check for them~ ^^;) but now I have lots of readers and lots of views!
I never really started this blog for popularity...but for more of a diary of my Lolita progress. My interests have grown so much since last year that I can barely keep up of what I'm writing about.
So what are you guys hoping on accomplishing this year? Last year was for me to become a better lolita, and I seem to have accomplished that! But this year I plan on:
Losing weight. It'll be easy since I have ddr and I play it every day.
Go to more Cons. I can't go to Katsucon because I have a play, but I'm trying to go to more smaller cons.
Buy my first Angelic pretty dress. Hopefully from and AP store. Which brings me to this really, really important thing:
I'm going to Japan!!!!
I am really, really excited about this! I'm only 14 and I already get to cross off one of my dream countries to visit! (This is the only reason I'm not going to many cons, but that's 0kay!) I'm ready to dive into the culture and hopefully not get too excited! Plus I'm horribly afraid of flying, so wish me luck!

An Update on the web shop:
Toki Doku progress has been going better than expected. The earliest date that I could open would be in late January/February. I will be selling things like Decorated glasses, headbands, charms, rings, necklaces, tuts, fur legwarmers, and more! I will probably be stocking items five at a time every 2 weeks. Everything will be under $20!

So for a question of the day....What is your favorite old school video game? I was playing Streets of rage 2 today (Blaze FTW) and this question just popped in my head. I am really looking for new stuff to play, so if you have multiple titles to recommend, I would love to hear them.

What did I do for ILD?

What did you do today?
I feel bad that I couldn't wear Lolita today, but maybe I'll get dressed up tomorrow? At least I wore a small bow on my head to just remind me!
Another thing I did for ILD was buy my first piece of brand. I actually have made a new year's resolution come true, and now I actually own some Angelic pretty! I also bought some punk stuff from Sex pot revenge, but that's not Lolita related.
Happy International Lolita Day everyone!
(Side note: Am I the only one who had a Panty & Stocking w/ Garterbelt marathon to celebrate ILD?)

That was wayyy faster than I expected....

So I reached that 2000 page views goal, so I'll be thinking of what to do for the giveaway... It might take me a while, but hopefully I'll find something. Remember this is a *small* giveaway, and it will most likely not involve any burando.

Instead of making this a short post, I wanted to ask one question. What picture(s) inspire your fashion choice? I know I had a post about my favorite tumblrs, but this is different. I really want to know who or what inspires you!

This is one of my main inspirational photos for dressing up in Lolita. Not only is she wearing Radioactive Cupcakes, but she is wearing cute glasses! Since I wear glasses, sometimes i don't feel good in Lolita for some reason, like I look like an old lady! But when I look at this picture it makes me think that glasses are one extra OTT accessory to have.
So you could write a blog post about this, or just leave a comment below! I will try my best to read it (I hope the internet doesn't break again) and comment back!

Is it too early for Christmas?

Oh Christmas time. I love you with your crazy sales and me risking my life to go buy an mp3 player for my mom. This year, I want to know what is on your Christmas wish list? I would really like to see all of the different things that other people want! Here's mine:

A Wacom bamboo pen and touch- I am really getting into art especially Photoshop, but it is really hard to draw on a laptop with a mouse. I have been wanting this the most!

Paper Jamz guitar- I'm still a bit of a kid, so of course I want the newest thing that all of the kids have! I know I actually don't need it that much since I already have a real guitar, but I really want to do a cosplay with a guitar soon, so this would be an awesome prop!

Melty Chocolate replica skirt and AP lucky pack JSK replica- These are really my two favorite dresses, and since I'm leaving for classic and Gothic, I think these will be the only two sweet dresses I need. Now I know the controversy over replicas are, and I do feel like I'm kind of cheating in the dream dress department, but maybe one day I'll get a job and pay for the real thing.

So what's on your Christmas List? I really want to know! If you make one you can link to it in the comments section and I'll check it out. Also, If I hit 2000 blog views before New years, I might have a small give away!

Dream boots~

(Finally, a proper post...) It is really, really cold outside, and that means it's the perfect time for boots! I have really been obsessed with a lot of different fall-like elements like furs, coats, and scarfs that I can incorporate into a Lolita coordinate and warm footwear is always a good finish! Looking around my town I realized there are a lot of places to get boots that go with Lolita, and here are a few that you can look for the next time you go shopping.

"We who see fringe boot"
- $78.00: This boot would be great for classic. It comes in brown and black and goes up to a size 10, which is a pretty good variety in size. I *almost* bought these boots, but they didn't have my size. D:

Mary Jane pump - $13.99: I found these while online shopping for my mom actually! They are really cute, and i think the could go with anything.

And my personal favorites, Dr.Martens 1460 pink - $115.00: These are absolutely amazing shoes. I really, really want a pair, whether they work with Lolita or not. They are well made, but not for people with wide feet, like me. One day I will get these shoes!

I hope these choices weren't too expensive, but if they were, I'm pretty sure you can find some more affordable options! Happy shoe hunting everyone!

Tumblrs I love!

(Thanks for 21 followers! Never thought I would get this far!) Long time no post! Comment allez vous? (I'm taking french now. :D) I've been so busy with High school that I completley forgot about blogging, so for now I might just do little quick posts like this one.
Tumblr is another form of blogging. Most of these blogs I'm going to list are picture blogs used for inspiration. Hopefully they'll inspire you to do something creative!

Spank girls, Fyeah Fairy kei- Love, love, love this tumblr! Great inspiration for Spank! and Fairy kei. It also gives me some ideas for crafts.

Fyeah Japan fashion- Great inspiration for Japanese fashions. Lolita, Decora, Gyaru. Too bad she's on hiatus until the end of October, but still great to look at!

Sweet Lolitas- Amazing pictures! Updated everyday, and its really cute! I think there are other tumblrs for Classic, Gothic, etc., but this is the only one I really follow.

The Everyday Lolita- I like to take a break from looking at magazine snaps. This tumblr is perfect for it. The best thing is that you can submit your own photos! (I'm too chicken to do it.)

And of course: My tumblr. It's all of these tumblrs put together in one. I constantly re blog, upload, and sometimes write. It may have been a while since I updated, but at least you have 6 pages to look through!

Well for right now, I'm going to bed, but first I will ask a question. How would you feel if this became a daily blog? For example, a blog about what I did, probably two days out of the week? I'll try it out next week, but If it doesn't really work, I'll do something else.

New Year, New dress code.

Sorry I haven't wrote an article in a long time. Family problems and summer have really gotten in the way!
A lot of kids are going back to school, but a lot of things are changing. My school has a new dress code going into effect. This year our school is about "Dressing for the real world" as opposed to "Dressing to express yourself." Why can I not do both? Maybe I have to tweak my style a bit, but that's okay. Ill just change everything bit by bit and rule by rule.
Rule #1: Collared shirts or crewneck tops will be worn. No t-shirts, scoop-neck, or v-neck tops are to be worn. Shirts with shoulder straps of any kind will not be allowed.

This may be a little expensive for some of us, but I'm pretty sure you can find alternatives in a cheaper place. I decided that if I can't do anything else, I would add color! My favorite color combo is blue and pink, so I decided to go with a pop kei themed outfit! I decided to toned it down a bit, so it doesn't become a distraction at school.
Rule #2: Tailored pants may be worn. Shorts, dresses, and skirts will be four inches above the knee or longer. No cargo pants or cargo shorts are to be worn. No denim or denim-like pants of any color are to be worn.

This gives me a good excuse to wear bloomers as pants! I got the idea while looking at this outfit
I just want to get dressed up in really frilly bloomers and a bunch of bows for some reason... I don't think this is normal... but hey! It doesn't go against dress code!

Rule #3: Dresses are to cover the shoulders. Dresses with straps are not allowed.

This is easy enough, just wear a cardigan or a blouse under a jsk! Mix and match colors to get a nice color pallette and roll with it!

Hopefully this helped some people, and if it didn't, I had fun writing it! It helped me plan for my school year, and I think I'm going to try some of these outfits!

Star tulle bow tutorial

Today I was a little sick in bed, so I thought what a perfect day to do some crafting! So I decided to make some star tulle bows for some added cuteness to my accessories basket.
What you'll need:
-Tulle
-Ribbon
-Needle
-Thread
-Little star beads or whatever shape you want!

1. Cut out a 6 by 4 inch piece of tulle to use.

2. Fold it over height wise two times, then fold it over once length wise

3. Wrap a ribbon around the middle and sew it on with a needle and thread.

4. Add a star bead with hot glue and you're done!

In the end it should turn out like this:

Not too extravagant; just something simple for you to do in less than 10 minutes. Happy crafting!

Summer Challenge!

This summer is an extra long summer. I have until September to get back to school, and I want to do something that can better me. Last year, I found Lolita fashion at this time. I was one of those summer newbies, but I did my research on sites before I jumped into the action. I have made a huge huge improvement, and I think I have changed my ideas of Lolita.
When I first came upon Lolita, my eyes were immediately drawn to the sugary sweetness of Angelic Pretty. I really love OTT sweet, and I still do, but I've put that on the back burner for now. My summer this year is more of a "stroll in the countryside" kind of summer. Since I've been given more freedom this year, I have the choice of choosing what I wear more often. I have chosen to become a more classical sweet Lolita. It seems more refined and wearable that OTT sweet. So I've decided that this summer will be an elegant crafts summer.
My first project is going to be a mint green bonnet recycled from an old dress I used when i was a little kid. Hopefully this will be a fun experience! I hope this summer will be the best I ever had!

Creativity sparks!

When a Lolita has a meet up, they usually plan their outfit a day ahead. I also do that. But what is the best time for you to plan a coordinate? From going to work or school, eating, and sleeping (which we do not get enough of) where can this time be put in your day? Usually meet ups are on Saturdays, or at the most Fridays. I have actually never seen a meet up heald on a Major weekday (unless on special occasion). So if that's the case, then what time is good for planning an outfit?
You may say that a good time for planning is the night before, so you can know what your outfit looks like, and get the feel of the outfit. I disagree. Well, only a little. You should plan your outfit the night before, but you should take the week on planning. Look at color schemes that are good for the weather, and build an outfit on that. Do you need a long sleeve blouse, or a short sleeve one? All of these questions can be easily answered if you research ahead.
When meeting up in lolita, you will usually attend a tea house, but sometimes, you may go to a classy or fancy setting. Of course you will still be wearing Lolita, but it might be a good time to leave the OTT Sugary-Sweet coordinate. Call in with the resturant to see the dress code, and if they say your clothing choice is fine, then go with it!
The last thing to worry about is creativity. When you plan a coord, it is mostly about origionallity. So what time of the day are you most creative? As you can see, I get really creative at 2am, but your time might be 2pm the day before the meet up. Which ever time is right for you, use it to your advantage.
Hopefully these tips helped you a little! I hope your next meet up is a success!
